Leather Working Tools
There is so much that can be done with leather that getting started can be overwhelming; I know it was for me! My best advice would be to 1.) pick a small project and assemble to tools/materials necessary to make that project or 2.) invest in a kit. Pictured below is the best kit I have come across, both in contents and price.

Leather
In our jewelry, costumes, and accessories we almost exclusively use vegetable tanned leather. I highly recommend checking out Tandy Leather's Leather Buying Guide and looking for a Tandy Leather Store local to you where you can shop in person. Linked below are leathers I have ordered online before and was pleased with the product, if you are unable to shop in person.
